Barry joined Horizon Hospitality Associates in March of 2001 after a 28-year career in the restaurant and private club sectors with 25 years in the private club sector of the hospitality industry. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology/Psychology from Southern Illinois University and enjoyed successful management careers with Ramada Hotels, Nino’s Steakhouses Inc., ClubCorp, and most recently Lakeshore Management Group.

Barry has been certified in numerous Human Resource Management disciplines from Indiana University, Bradley School of Management, and with ClubCorp Leadership Training Programs. Barry was also certified as a General Manager and a Certified Membership Instructor for Sales Management  by ClubCorp. He went on to win and receive a prestigious Special Achievement Award for being an outstanding leader and General Manager in the Private Club Industry from ClubCorp. The number one achievement  in Barry’s mind though that he received was the Best Improvement in the Company in the annual Employee Attitude Survey. This award recognize Barry for what he truly believes in. And that is take care of the people who take care of your Members. Barry is currently writing a book on ” Hiring Service”

Barry also spent 2+ years as a Professor of Supervision and Business Administration for Hospitality leaders at the IVY Tech  network in Indiana for their Hospitality/Culinary Program. This curriculum was all design and adhered to the National Restaurant Associations training programs.

Barry’s main passion and has been a leader in the hospitality industry on the topic of people as a resource.  He has been invited to talk to and instruct numerous CMAA Chapters. He has also conducted several market focus groups for Club Members and Board of Governors around the country in regards to utilizing staff training to increase Membership at their Clubs.
