According to the BLS, there are currently an estimated 305,000 restaurant managers in the United States. Demand for these positions is expected to grow by 5.1 percent between 2014 and 2024. The greatest number of restaurant managers are employed in California, Texas and Tennessee.

Restaurant managers are often promoted through the ranks to executive roles, so don’t hesitate to start at the bottom if you are interested in moving into management. If you are willing to work hard, you can be successful as a line cook or server. Servers or other aspiring front of house workers will also need superb customer service skills.
